Frequently asked questions
What does Airwallex cost and is there a free plan?
The Explore plan is free: no monthly fee, no setup fee and no minimum balance, and it includes up to 10 free Spend users. Grow costs $12 per active Spend user per month plus a platform fee based on team size, up to 250 Spend users. Accelerate is custom priced. Transaction fees sit on top of the plan fee: 2.80% + $0.30 for domestic cards, 4.30% + $0.30 for international cards, 0.50% per successful subscription or usage-based billing transaction, FX conversion at 0.5% above interbank for major currencies and 1.0% for others, and $15-$25 per SWIFT transfer.
How long does implementation take and is there a setup fee?
There is no setup fee, and a business account can be applied for in minutes, so self-serve account, card and expense use cases can be live quickly. API and embedded finance builds take longer because they require developer work against the Platform APIs, SDKs, webhooks and sandbox. Budget roughly two weeks to get to steady-state production use on the standard plans, and more if you are embedding payments, accounts or issuing in your own product.
Does Airwallex replace my business bank account?
Partly. Airwallex provides multi-currency business accounts, local collection accounts in 20+ currencies, corporate cards, bill pay and global transfers, which covers much of day-to-day treasury and spend. It is not a full-service commercial bank: it does not offer traditional lending or deposit banking under the same protections, and the Yield product is brokerage, offered through Airwallex Capital US LLC, a FINRA/SIPC member, investing in money market funds that are not FDIC insured. Most customers keep a bank relationship for lending and local regulatory needs.
How does Airwallex use AI and customer data?
Airwallex markets AI across expense and accounts payable workflows: Kai, an AI assistant for cash-flow questions, AI agents for expenses and AP, AI receipt matching and bill coding, an AI expense policy agent, and AI-assisted 3-way matching. Airwallex's privacy policy states that personal data may be processed to develop or improve its AI or ML technologies, and it says it does not use AI for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. No third-party model provider is named, and no customer-facing model key or BYOK option is documented.
Which systems does Airwallex integrate with?
Accounting and ERP sync covers Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Sage, Odoo and Rillet, with bank feeds, expenses and bills reconciled automatically. Commerce plugins include Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, Prestashop, Shoplazza, Shopline, Amazon, eBay, Lazada, Shopee and fnac, and there are connector integrations with Salesforce, HubSpot, Workday, BambooHR, Employment Hero, ApprovalMax and Zapier.
