Bottom line
Coast is a fleet fuel card and corporate card with built-in expense management, built for construction, trades and other fleet-based businesses in the US. Pricing is $4 per active user per month with no personal guarantee, and cards work anywhere Visa is accepted. Telematics integrations such as Samsara, Geotab and Verizon Connect block out-of-vehicle transactions, while QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Fleetio sync cut manual reconciliation. Coast claims customers save an average of $30,000 a year.
Frequently asked questions
What does Coast cost?
Coast charges $4 per active user per month, where an active user is anyone with one or more completed transactions that month. That fee covers the card program and the full expense management platform. Card production and standard shipping are free. Optional Bill Pay is a separate $99/month platform fee covering 100 ACH and 100 checks, with overages at $0.50 per ACH, $2.00 per check and $10 per wire. There are no per-gallon administration, reporting, portal access, electronic payment or US per-transaction fees.
How long does implementation take?
Applications are online and can be approved in minutes, though Coast may request additional documents, which adds time; after a complete application Coast responds by email within 3 to 5 business days. Cards shipped via standard USPS shipping arrive in 5–10 business days, and expedited FedEx options are available. Coast says there is no personal guarantee and no impact on personal credit scores.
Which accounting, telematics and fleet systems does Coast integrate with?
Telematics and GPS partners include Samsara, Geotab, Verizon Connect, Azuga, Lytx, Ford Pro, EROAD and others, and Coast uses that data to block transactions when a vehicle is not at the pump. Fleet management integrations include Fleetio and Whip Around. Accounting integrations cover QuickBooks Online and Desktop, NetSuite and Sage Intacct. Field service integrations include BuildOps, Knowify and Simpro, and an HR integration with Miter keeps cardholder lists in sync.
Is Coast a fuel card, a corporate card, or both?
It is both. Coast began as a fuel card with driver- and vehicle-level controls, and now also covers field and job-site expenses such as maintenance, tools and supplies, plus virtual cards for back-office subscriptions and software. Everything reports and reconciles in one place rather than across separate card programs.
Does Coast require a personal guarantee?
No. Coast states it does not require a personal guarantee and that applying will not affect a personal credit score. It also does not allow customers to carry a balance: the Coast bill is due in full on its due date.
How does Coast prevent fuel card fraud?
Every Coast card has a chip and cards are locked by default, unlocked through a secure mobile process rather than a shareable PIN. Administrators set limits by dollar amount, merchant category, time of day and day of week. Telematics data verifies transactions against GPS location and tank capacity and can decline purchases far from the vehicle, and Coast backs this with a $25,000 fuel fraud guarantee when advanced security features are used.
