Frequently asked questions
What does Help Scout cost for a 10-person support team?
On the annual Plus plan at $45 per user/month, a 10-seat team pays roughly $5,400 per year and gets advanced workflows, unlimited AI Drafts, a secure customer portal and Salesforce, HubSpot and Jira integrations. The free plan covers 5 users, 1 Inbox and 1 Docs site. AI Answers is billed separately at $0.75 per resolution, with a three-month free trial and an optional monthly spending cap.
How is AI Answers priced and can we cap the spend?
AI Answers is an add-on at $0.75 per resolution. A resolution is a conversation the AI closes without human help — if the customer searches the knowledge base or asks for more help, it is not charged, and only one resolution is charged per conversation. You can set a monthly cap; when it is reached AI Answers is disabled for the rest of the cycle, and you are emailed as you approach it.
How long does implementation take?
Help Scout states teams learn the platform in under an hour and become power users in under a day; customers such as Switcher describe going live in 24 hours against six months for an alternative. Work is mostly configuration — forwarding email, connecting channels, building Docs and setting workflows — so the vendor publishes no mandatory implementation fee.
Is Help Scout suitable for HIPAA-regulated support?
Yes. Help Scout states it maintains ongoing HIPAA compliance and can process, maintain and store protected health information for covered entities, provided you sign a BAA. HIPAA compliance is included on the Pro plan and is available as an add-on on other tiers. The vendor also states it is SOC 2 Type 2 certified for Security and Availability.
How does Help Scout fit with our existing stack?
Native integrations include Salesforce, HubSpot, Jira, Linear and Aircall on Plus and above, alongside 100+ apps in the marketplace (one app on the free plan). There is a public API with plan-based rate limits plus webhooks and OAuth apps for custom sidebar integrations. No MCP or Slack integration is described in the vendor pages reviewed.
