Positioning guardrails
Best for
- In-house legal teams at mid-market and enterprise companies overwhelmed by requests from sales, procurement, HR and finance
- Commercial counsel who want contract review, redlining and drafting done against the team's own playbook inside Microsoft Word
- General counsel and legal ops leaders trying to cut outside counsel spend on routine commercial work
- Teams already working in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Outlook or Gmail that want legal intake without adopting another tool
- Legal departments that need an audit-ready record of every matter, from request to resolution
Ideal size: 3–50 in-house lawyers people · Mid-market to enterprise with an established in-house legal function
Not for
- Law firms and legal service providers whose business model is billable legal work — Wordsmith targets the buyers of legal work, not the firms billing for it
- Companies with no in-house legal function or no recurring contract volume
- Teams that need a public list price or self-serve checkout; pricing is quote-based through a demo
- Buyers requiring on-premise or self-hosted deployment; Wordsmith is a hosted AWS service
- Non-legal workflow automation outside contracts, legal intake, repositories and research

Bottom line
Wordsmith is an AI platform for in-house legal teams: it captures every legal request, auto-triages it, drafts and redlines against the team's playbook, and records the outcome audit-ready. It works inside Microsoft Word, Outlook/Gmail, Slack and Teams, and connects to SharePoint, Google Drive, iManage, HubSpot, Jira and Ironclad, plus 8,000+ apps via Zapier/n8n, MCP and a public API. Customers include Canva, Trustpilot, Sage, Starling and the Financial Times. Pricing is quote-based.
Frequently asked questions
How is Wordsmith priced, and is there a free trial?
Wordsmith does not publish list prices. The pricing page describes transparent, flexible pricing tailored to your team, a free trial and a 30-minute demo. A limited version of reports is available on the trial, while full access requires a Pro or Enterprise plan discussed with the Wordsmith team. White-glove implementation is available for enterprise accounts.
Does Wordsmith train AI models on our data?
No. The security page states that Wordsmith does not use customer data to train its AI models or improve the platform for other customers, and that it holds contractual zero-data-retention commitments with every underlying model provider. Prompts and outputs are not stored, logged or used for training by OpenAI, Anthropic or Google.
What security and compliance certifications does Wordsmith hold?
Wordsmith is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, with data encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), annual independent penetration testing, SSO via OIDC and SAML 2.0, and role-based access control. It is hosted on AWS with EU data residency by default and US available. ISO 27001 certification is stated as in progress, so it is not yet held.
Which systems does Wordsmith integrate with?
Native connectors cover Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Slack, Gmail and Google Drive, iManage, Notion, Confluence, Jira, HubSpot, Attio and Ironclad. Zapier and n8n extend that to 8,000+ apps, and MCP plus a public API connect the wider stack, including pulling context from Salesforce.
Is Wordsmith a good fit for a law firm?
No. Wordsmith is built for in-house legal teams at companies such as Canva, Trustpilot, Sage, Starling and the Financial Times. The vendor positions itself on the buyer's side of the table — helping companies do less outside legal work — rather than helping firms that bill for it do more.
How long does implementation take?
No fixed timeline is published. Wordsmith says native connectors can be connected from Workspaces settings in minutes, and white-glove implementation is available for enterprise accounts. Enterprise rollouts should still plan for a security review, SSO configuration and playbook and knowledge-base setup before the first production matters.
