Positioning guardrails

Best for

  • Operations teams that need internal apps built from spreadsheets without waiting on engineering.
  • Field operations, inventory, logistics and inspection workflows that need a mobile app on live data.
  • Employee, customer and partner portals with granular per-user and per-row permissions.
  • Teams that want to build and manage apps from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor through Glide's MCP server.
  • Companies consolidating a patchwork of spreadsheets and point tools onto one shared data layer.

Ideal size: 10–200 people · Ops-led scale-up or mid-market team with spreadsheet-driven processes

Not for

  • Consumer-scale or internet-facing products needing bespoke engineering and high-availability SLAs.
  • Workloads that require heavy custom code, bespoke algorithms or deep system-level integration.
  • Buyers who need on-premise hosting or data residency outside Glide's US Google Cloud region.
  • Teams with no structured data or spreadsheet to start from.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can we get a working app into production?

Glide is self-serve and credit-based, so there is no implementation fee or professional-services gate. The vendor positions GlideOS as turning months of coding or weeks of no-code into minutes, and a customer quoted on the site describes going from concept to a working app in about 15 minutes. Published case studies show teams building on existing data sources inside their trial period.

What does Glide cost for a mid-market team?

Pricing is published: Free ($0, limited credits), Basic ($25/month, 100 credits), Plus ($50/month, 250 credits) and Pro ($125/month, starting at 5 members with 50 credits per member). Enterprise is custom and adds SSO, enterprise integrations, audit logs, a dedicated success manager and choice of your organisation's LLM provider. Extra credits are available as top-ups on paid plans only.

Do we need engineers to build and maintain the apps?

No. Glide is aimed at operators and business teams: you upload a spreadsheet or connect a data source, and Glide reads the structure and generates screens and workflows. Technical teams can go further by building through Glide's MCP server from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, while still keeping hosting, data, auth and workflows in Glide.

Is our data secure and compliant?

Glide states it is SOC 2 Type 2 certified and GDPR compliant, with apps private by default, granular access control, row-level ownership rules, AES 256-bit encryption in transit and at rest, and 30-day data retention after deletion. Servers run on Google Cloud in Iowa, USA. SSO, audit logs and 30-day backups are Enterprise plan features.

Does Glide train AI models on our data?

No. Glide's AI page states that Glide AI never trains on your data, and that its agreement with its AI subprocessor explicitly keeps information you enter private and prevents that data from being used to further train the model. Glide AI is described as using OpenAI, Azure ML and Google Cloud.

Can we use our own AI agent or model provider?

You can bring your own agent. Glide exposes a remote MCP server so agents in Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can sign in as you and build apps, query data and ship workflows, with tokens running on the agent subscription you already pay for. On Enterprise, organisations can also choose their own LLM provider.
